No School

We're on our second week of no school because of the Oklahoma teacher walkout.  We've been to new play places, enjoyed seeing snow in April, and we spent more time in Texas.  The big kids have even helped me teach at preschool.  I think they'll always remember the year they got two spring breaks!

Why are teachers at the capitol?

To end class sizes of 27 in kindergarten

To end class sizes of 30-40 in upper grades

To have the additional teachers needed

To have and properly pay the support personnel needed

To have the electives lost but needed

   i.e. Foreign languages, Agriculture, Advanced Art and technology classes, Family and Consumer Sciences, Engineering, Marketing, Social Sciences, Tech Ed, Elementary STEM, expanded athletic offerings...

To expand STEM programs/elective

To support and expand ARTS offerings

To replace 14 year old taped and rebound textbooks

To have art supplies, music instruments, music and supplies

To replace old broken desks and chairs

To have money to properly heat and cool classrooms

To have the staff needed to properly operate and maintain schools

To have the supplies and equipment needed to properly maintain and repair classrooms

To have money to pay for supplies and teaching materials

To provide things as simple as mulch for playgrounds

To have reading specialists, math specialists, gifted specialists needed by students.

To have content specialists to assist classroom teachers

To have safe playground equipment

To have copiers, paper and ink

To provide students with current technology 

To have the staff needed to maintain technology

To increase safety in schools

To provide English Language programs/teachers

To provide engaging extra-curricular offerings

To provide appropriate learning opportunities/staffing for students with learning differences

To provide advanced learning opportunities for students with advanced learning needs

To provide academic and personal counseling 

To have personalized professional development
